Target x Harlem Immersion Belonging Experience

Target hired us to work on guest belonging initiatives in support of their ongoing commitment to Black and Latinx communities. The work involved a deep dive into Harlem culture to better understand and articulate the needs and expectations of local Target shoppers. I curated a four-day immersive experience for our client and internal team to connect with cultural institutions, community organizations, food, art and daily life in East and Central Harlem. These experiences informed our next stage of research—focus groups and a first-of-its-kind workshop with guests and Target stakeholders. I tailored these sessions to support an environment of co-creation, and the client walked away with actionable steps to enhance belonging and improve security.
